9th Art!

You guys! There's an exciting new Oxbridge comics magazine revving its engines. Its first issue (Oxford only) is online, and this Cambridge collective is on board to make sure the next issue's even better.

Everyone in Cambridge is encouraged to get drawing. Details are on the 9th Art website, the deadline is June 20th, and your pencil is on your desk, just there, yeah, right in front of you.

Hourly Comics Day 2011

Every February 1st, cartoonists everywhere simulteously set down every hour they're awake onto paper. It's an exercise in getting things done and in being creative quickly from little material. The result is Hourly Comics Day and it's impressive.

I took part this year, and, uh, accidentally kept going, since Feb 2nd was (oddly enough) both (a) pretty interesting and (b) involved lots of sitting around with time to draw. Click the images below to read the whole things!

Gargoyles, summer camp

It's been quietly quietly here for a while, so I thought I'd break my silence and post up for my first time.

Completed Thumbnails for the project I've been working on. 25 pages in total, which isn't too bad.

And the latest in a long line of wips of this image... Lot's of books being painted, yay!

Meditation

Inked this at C4 with Clementine's quill pen. The colouring is watercolour and Copic marker with a bit of white ink.

It didn't scan very well, unfortunately.

Title is pretty self-explanatory. Partly coloured at C4 and finished over the Christmas holidays!

Staircases

Current WIP - inking was done in manga studio at a C4 session, colouring done in Open Canvas since then. I think it's not coming along too badly, though it'll be a while before it's finished!

Cambridge Comics Creators' Collective

Welcome to the new blog of the Cambridge Comics Creators' Collective (C4)!

Created in 2008 by Luke, C4 is a fun, informal gathering of comic artists and illustrators in Cambridge (UK). We meet every Saturday afternoon from 12 to 3 at the Café Project, 22, Jesus Lane. Anyone can join at any time. All styles are welcome, so whether you're a manga fan, a graphic novelist, a one-panel cartoonist or a children's comic artist, come by for a chat, a coffee and a few hours of drawing.
